On the 5th of November, Francis and I had a sharing session, “Quest for Growth SEO Deep Dive”, organised by Quest Ventures about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media Marketing.
For those who are unfamiliar, SEO is one of the key features that can enable your webpage to gain more views and followers. By taking advantage of this feature, and strategising in the right way, the influence and reach that you have envisioned for your webpage will be yours in no time.
Francis kicked off the session by introducing the concept of SEO and also provided some examples of the best practices associated with it. This was later supplemented by my segment which covered some tips and tricks to social media marketing.
For those of you who are interested but were unable to attend the talk, here are some takeaways from Francis and myself that will surely help your SEO and social media marketing crisis!
The main concerns of your SEO would be Keywords, Linking Strategy, and Meta Descriptions. In regards to keywords, you should research 5 to 7 keywords that are related to the services or products which your website provides. For example, possible keywords for PINC’s site is fashion, cryptocurrency, or blockchain. If you are having a hard time, you may also use free tools that are available, which can aid you in creating the right keywords.
After identifying these keywords, you will now have to shift your focus into your linking strategy. Linking strategy is pretty simple – the more you link your site to other trusted sites, the more relevance your site will have to a search engine. Backlinks are also critical; therefore, you should even know which sites link with yours and the keywords they have been using.
Finally, META descriptions are also vital in the success of your SEO, since search engines use them in summarising the content of your website, and it may also appear when other people share your content. Thus, the best advice we can share with you is to remember to keep it short (around 130 to 160 characters) and to focus on the main agenda, the products or services of your site.
